Here at the Malinois Foundation we believe that Service Dogs save lives. It is our mission to make these life-saving companions available to our Veterans, First Responders, Women Survivors, and Children with Medical Needs. Whether it be for PTSD, Mobility Support, or Special Needs, we work to heal and empower these individuals with a specialized service animal, a partner in life, and a new best friend.
Once the $20 application fee is paid and a full application is acquired, an internal conversation to create a training plan for the client. Whether the client has a dog to train, or we need to find a dog to raise seriously impacts our resources and budget. This information includes: Diagnosis/Doctor Note; Bio & Photo (optional); and applicants are screened through a background check before they are considered for approval. In some cases, extra documentation is required.
Pay the $20 application fee, fill out the online application and upload supporting documents (see application for required documents).
Pay Application FeeWe conduct an internal background check on all applicants after receiving all documents and complete application.
Once the background check is complete, a representative from our foundation will schedule a time to meet you and your family. We want to ensure you can provide adequate care for a service dog in your home so it can thrive. Your evaluation and complete profile is then sent to our board of directors for final review.
If approved, there is a fundraising goal between $2-4k, depending on the level of service training needed. This level has been set by our board of directors to show a level of commitment to the training plan required for a service dog.
