How does the application process work?
Once a full application is acquired, an internal conversation to create a training plan for the client. Whether the client has a dog to train, or we need to find a dog to raise seriously impacts our resources and budget. This information includes: Diagnosis/Doctor Note; Bio & Photo (optional); $20 application fee; and applicants are screened through a background check before they are considered for approval. In some cases, extra documentation is required.
Apply, Documents, Fees
Fill out the online application, upload supporting documents (Diagnosis/Doctor Note; Bio & Photo) and pay the $20 application fee.
Background Check
We conduct an internal background check on all applicants after receiving all documents and complete application.
Evaluation
Once the background check is complete, a representative from our foundation will schedule a time to meet you and your family. We want to ensure you can provide adequate care for a service dog in your home so it can thrive. Your evaluation and complete profile is then sent to our board of directors for final review.
Fundraising
If approved, a fundraising goal or financial contribution of $1,500 must be met before training can begin. This level has been set by our board of directors to show a level of commitment to the training plan required for a service dog.
Before submitting an application, please review the application checklist:
